Frequently asked questions
How much does pest control cost in Edmonton?
Most one-time residential treatments in the Edmonton area cost roughly $150 to $650, depending on the pest, the size of the home and how established the problem is. Bed bugs and multi-unit programs commonly run $400 to $2,000 or more. We confirm the exact price before work starts.
Are pest control treatments a risk for kids and pets?
We use products registered with Health Canada's PMRA and apply them according to the label, which sets how they must be used around people and animals. Before treatment we tell you exactly what to do with kids, pets, aquariums, food and bedding, and how long to stay off treated areas.
How do I prepare for a pest control visit?
It depends on the pest. For mice, clear access to under-sink cabinets, the furnace room and the garage. For bed bugs, bag and launder bedding and clothing on high heat and declutter around beds. For cockroaches, clean kitchen surfaces and empty cupboards. We send pest-specific instructions when you book.
How long does it take to get rid of pests?
A wasp nest is usually dealt with in one visit. Mice typically take one to three weeks with a follow-up. Bed bugs and German cockroaches often need two or more treatments over several weeks, because eggs hatch after the first treatment.
Can I get rid of pests myself?
Sometimes. A few mice in a garage, an early ant trail or a small spring wasp nest can often be handled with traps, baits and sealing gaps. Bed bugs, cockroaches in apartments, large wasp nests and recurring mice usually need a professional. Our mice guide covers the DIY steps that work.
Who pays for pest control in a rental in Alberta: landlord or tenant?
Generally, landlords are responsible for keeping rental properties fit to live in, while tenants must keep their unit reasonably clean and report problems promptly. Responsibility can depend on the cause and the lease. See Alberta's Residential Tenancies Act information or the Residential Tenancy Dispute Resolution Service (RTDRS) for disputes. This isn't legal advice.
Are there rats in Edmonton?
No. Alberta has been officially rat-free for decades thanks to a provincial rat control program. If you think you've seen a rat, report it to Alberta Agriculture at 310-FARM (3276). Most rodent calls in Edmonton are house mice or deer mice.
Do you treat termites?
Edmonton doesn't have termite infestations, so termite treatment isn't needed here. Wood damage in Edmonton-area homes is usually carpenter ants, often in wood that's been wet. We can inspect and treat carpenter ants.
How do I safely clean up mouse droppings?
Alberta Health warns that deer mice can carry hantavirus. Don't sweep or vacuum droppings. Ventilate the area, wear rubber gloves and a mask, soak droppings and nesting material with a bleach-and-water solution or disinfectant, wait several minutes, then wipe up with paper towels and bag them.
When is wasp season in Edmonton?
Queen wasps start nests in spring, colonies grow through July, and the City of Edmonton notes yellowjacket populations peak in mid-to-late August, when wasps are most aggressive. Nests are smallest and easiest to remove in May and June.
Will mice come back after treatment?
They can if entry points stay open. Mice fit through gaps about the width of a pencil. Sealing around pipes, vents, garage door seals and foundation cracks is what stops the problem coming back each fall.
What areas do you serve?
